Chapter 1 - Lesson 1 (Pages 18-21)

Today, I introduced the class website to the students. We reviewed the web address, accessibility and what sorts of materials would be on the site.

Also, we began taking notes on Chapter 1. Today's notes focused on pages 18-21 in the text. Important terms discussed were geography, primary sources, secondary sources, point of view, bias and frame of reference. The notes for the day are below and should be copied into the student's geography folder.

Please help your student get their folder set up, if it has not already been done, in the manner outlined in the previous post.

Setting Up the Class Folder

Last Friday we took the class period to set up the folder each student will need for my World Cultures & Geography class. Unfortunately, not every student had the supplies needed to complete the folder set up. Needed materials will be:

- Folder with pockets and brads/rings (to secure papers)
- Set of 5 dividers
- Notebook paper

Instructions for setting up the class folder are below. Please print off a copy and help your student get their folder set up. The folder will be very important to their success, organization and to your ability to check up on their grades and progress quickly and easily.

Policies and Procedures

Your student should have brought home a copy of the rules and procedures for my World Cultures & Geography class the first week of school. This form was to be reviewed by you, signed and the back page returned to me. If you have not seen this form, please ask your student about it and get that back to me. It is important that we are all on the same page regarding the policies and procedures that students are expected to follow and adhere to in my class.

You can download and print a copy of the policies and procedures document below if your student has misplaced his/her copy.
